Welcome to the online version of Baskets and Beads Kenya. We are so happy you are here and hope you find something amazing for yourself or for a gift. If you are local to Southern California or come for a visit, check out our space in one of these 3 locations.
1. Fair Trade Long Beach – 4105 N Bellflower Blvd Long Beach CA
Fair Trade Long Beach is a retail collective of over 20 Fair Trade partners with products that are produced by artisans locally and around the world. We only carry fair trade items in the store. Each partner has their own retail space and you can find things from Kenya of course and Equador, Mexico, India, Bangladesh, Senegal, Haiti and Local US Products to name a few.
The store was the dream and creation of Teresa Baxter who has been involved with Fair Trade and Social Entrepreneurism most of her life. The store opened May 11, 2019 and we have a loyal clientele who keep coming back along with many visitors who stop by to check us out.
Before the COVID-19 shut down we had several events happening at the shop and in the village where the shop is located. I had a live Tea with a purpose with entertainment, tea, scones and fun. Currently it’s only online the last Tuesday of the month but will be back to live in the near future as soon as this virus situation ends.

If you are in the area, stop by and visit Fair Trade Long Beach. We are open Tuesday-Saturday 11-7pm and 12-4 on Sunday. You will definitely find something wonderful to take with you. Be sure to visit the Baskets and Beads booth there too!
2. Open Market OC – 24100 Laguna Hills Mall, Floor 2, Laguna Beach CA
This store opened in the fall of 2019 and has over 200 vendors throughout the space. It’s on the second floor of the former Macy’s in the Laguna Hills Mall. The first floor is a furniture store and the second floor is Open Market OC. Ian, Brian, Tara and Holly run the show over there and there are many of us vendors who are ambassadors to help customers find their way around.
Here you will find Baskets and Beads Kenya of course. Located in the far right corner in booth 260. Ask at the front desk/cash register to easily find the location. There are artists, clothing, jewelry and home goods vendors. There are body care products, candles, essential oils and other similar products. You will find baby gifts and gifts for every occasion there. A couple other vendors from Fair Trade Long Beach are also at Open Market OC.
The hours are Mon-Sat 10-6 and Sun 11-5. Be sure to visit Baskets and Beads!
3. Adore Boutique Collective - 2744 Carlsbad Blvd #106 Carlsbad CA
Adore is a brand new store that just had our grand opening this past weekend. Angelina Hart is the store owner and creator of this collective of small businesses located right on Carlsbad Blvd in Carlsbad Village. It’s a great destination location. There’s a French Bistro on one side of us and a Spa on the other. The beach is 1 block west and there are plenty of other restaurants and shops to visit in the area. You can even take the train right into the area and walk to the store. We are only a block away from the train station.
Adore has an upscale vibe with a bit of beach included. You will find Baskets and Beads of course and many wonderful styles of clothing, accessories, decorative items and personal care products like oils, soaps and lotions.
The hours are 11-6 daily. Make a day of it in Carlsbad!
